Dale Van Aken
Dale Van Aken founded Syncro’s predecessor company over 30 years ago, leading to Syncro’s establishment in 1990. Prior to that, Dale served in development, management, and consulting roles for high-tech companies in the Northeast. With undergrad studies in Computer Science, Dale holds a Babson MBA. He has been twice recognized as a business builder by Inc. Magazine, and received local and national awards for business development. His business philosophy has been honed by many years of developing lasting relationships with client companies: combining exceptional engineers with a fully client-centered leadership team produces successful outcomes.
Dale serves in a number of charitable and community roles including a Medical Center Foundation Board and public school music and arts initiatives. He is a co-founder and Director of the Life-Giving Water Fund, which installs water wells in rural Africa. He enjoys bicycling and building mission style furniture.
President & CEO
Pat oversees the operation of the company, and maintains a direct relationship with each of Syncro’s clients. Under his leadership, Syncro has earned the trust of its clients as evidenced by many long-term relationships – several in excess of 10 years. To ensure that Syncro will be a stable and reliable partner to its clients, Pat has established a strong managerial and financial footing for the firm. Prior to his association with Syncro, Pat worked in marketing and operations roles for firms in the medical/technology sector. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School.
Pat serves as President of Langhorne Open Space, Inc. — a not-for-profit organization focused on open space preservation.
VP, Software Development
By maintaining an exceptional engineering staff, Rick ensures that Syncro Medical engineers deliver consistent, high-quality results for our clients. Through his team of Technical Project Managers, Rick provides oversight and direction for each client project. He ensures that Syncro Medical’s engineering team is well-equipped with the best tools available, and are adequately trained in the latest technologies. After earning a BSEE from Penn State University, Rick began his career developing software and instrumentation systems and quickly advanced to a project leadership role. Rick joined Syncro Medical in 1997.
Rick is an active participant as a leader of community sports programs and enjoys world-wide travel and scuba diving.
Gregory House, PhD
Director, Technology & Innovation
Gregory House spearheads innovation and technology at Syncro through exciting new initiatives. Greg earned a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineer from Carnegie Mellon University and has a 20-year track record of commercializing digital technologies. He was Principal Investigator for $2 million in biomedical funding, awarded 14 US patents, and published 8 peer reviewed journal articles. His hands-on experience includes driving intellectual property strategy, building multi-disciplinary engineering and operation teams, and collaborating with research and medical institutions. Greg launched innovative products for health care and sports media into demanding real-world environments.
He enjoys outdoor nature activities and serving the elderly and the community.

Director, Architecture & Design
Frank Bergmaier is Director of Architecture and Design at Syncro Medical. Frank has been working as a software engineer, architect, and manager for over 25 years building systems for the medical, scientific, industrial, and communications industries. During Frank’s 20+ years at Syncro he has worked primarily on FDA-regulated medical devices, clinical laboratory instrumentation, and automation. His work has centered on creating software architectures for new products and revitalizing existing products with new technologies. Frank holds a BSCS and MSCS. He is an SEI Certified Software Architect and a Microsoft Certified Professional.
Principal Software Engineer
Rich Champeaux is a Principal Engineer at Syncro Medical with a passion for user interface development. He has 25 years of experience with the development of Windows, Android, and iOS applications. Prior to joining Syncro Medical in 2002, Rich worked in Intel’s Advanced Development Group in Hillsboro, Oregon. Rich earned a BS and MS in Computer Engineering with a Minor in Computer Science from Clemson University.
Director, Quality & Process
Rose Marcantonio is Director of Quality and Process at Syncro Medical. Rose has been working as a software engineer and manager in the Biomedical Industry for more than 25 years, first in medical research and subsequently in medical device development. During her 15 years in leadership roles at Syncro Medical, she has managed a variety of development projects for instrument and systems software as well as mobile devices. Rose leads Syncro Medical’s quality assurance effort and focuses on improving internal project management and agile processes. She is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist. Rose holds a BSEE and an MS in Biomedical Engineering. Outside of work, Rose enjoys crafts and gardening and is an avid community volunteer.
Chris Sears, PhD PE
Principal Biomedical Engineer
Chris Sears is a Principal Biomedical Engineer at Syncro Medical. He received a BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from UCLA in the Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology (CASIT). Dr. Sears has particular expertise in tactile feedback for robotic and tele-operated surgical systems. He has worked in industry in ventures related to robotics and mesh networking, and on medical device projects for the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), Center for Innovative Minimally Invasive Therapy (CIMIT), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and several government medical research groups. In 2012, he was certified by the California State Board as a Professional Engineer in Computer and Electrical Engineering.
